Introduction

Welcome to Renaissance Prep
Renaissance Schools Incorporated is a 501c3 corporation that was formed with the mission of serving DeKalb County by creating a free and public K through 12 pipeline that guarantees students access to the post secondary option of their choice. Our unique curriculum and emphasis on school culture will ensure that students think and grow as leaders in their community.

Education is about more than our students being able to find a job after completing the post secondary option of their choice. It is about helping our students become full participants in the democratic process by exposing them to educational experiences that require them to think critically, work collaboratively, and to serve their communities. After learning and growing with us your son or daughter will become a well dressed, well spoken, well read, and well traveled scholar and citizen.

Our Philosophy for Community Partnership

Renaissance Preparatory Academy will collaborate with the DeKalb County School System, parents, students, local business owners, churches, and other community leaders/organizations. Our organizational philosophy is based on collaboration and growth for all stakeholders. We value community input and are always open to feedback about all aspects of our operations. Our vision for community partnership includes the following stakeholders accepting responsibility in the manner detailed below:

Educators: Educators must create and maintain a safe, order, organized educational environment where students are challenged intellectually. Educators must always be objective when assessing student performance and be willing to adapt to the needs/learning styles of students.

Parents: Parents are expected to support educators by ensuring that students come to school prepared (with all necessary supplies, homework, etc). Parents should also support educators by ensuring that students are respectful and behave appropriately when at school. Finally, parent input with regard to school events, fund raising, student incentives, lunch programs, and transportation is essential to establish an effective home-school partnership.

Local Businesses: Local businesses and business owners are expected to contribute to the community school monetarily, through in-kind donations, by visiting the school on career days, and by providing eligible students with job opportunities. Strong school-business partnerships show that businesses value education in their community.

Faith Based Organizations: While the law stipulates that there must be a separation of church and state that prohibits any public school from either advocating for one religion over another or preventing students/teachers from worshiping freely, the RPA team feels that faith based organizations play an integral role in supporting public education. Students may be members of various congregations and as such may be advised about proper behavior, work ethic, respect, charity, etc. by the leaders of these organizations.

Other Community Leaders: Other community leaders are expected to support public education by donating their time and talents to the school by volunteering, coming to speak with students about their area of expertise, serving as mentors, and by otherwise being available to support the school.
