Mr. Miles’ Educational Philosophy

“I believe that public education is about much more than just getting a job after a student turns 18 or leaves home. Education is about learning how to participate in, and contribute to, American Democracy. In this way, education is about social justice and human rights. Less educated citizens are less likely to participate in local, state, or national politics. Less educated citizens are more likely to abuse their environment through over-consumption and pollution. Less educated citizens are more likely to make poor financial decisions and thereby enter a life of indentured servitude to banks and credit card companies. Less educated citizens also tend to make poor decisions related to their health. To deny a child an education or to force him or her to attend a sub-par school is to condemn that child to an existence of being “less than”. Such a condemnation is unacceptable to me. It takes the combined efforts of professional educators, parents, students, business owners and operators, men and women of faith, elected officials, and all other members of a community to make a school work. Whether you’re a parent or not, the education of our children affects us all. ”

Mr. Jones’ Educational Philosophy

“Education is the greatest equalizer of injustices”

“This phrase has been the foundation of my career as an educator and the driving force behind the creation of Renaissance Preparatory Academy. Regardless of gender, race, socioeconomic status or situation, education is the strongest tool that can be used to overcome any obstacle. The development of that education has been completed by researching best practices of high performing schools as well as developing methods to help students become successful. The last factor that is needed to truly utilize a great education is an equally great work ethic.Work ethic is the piece that can outperform the given stereotypes for a specific situation. As an educator teaching the proper work ethic gives students the confidence and “blueprint” to attain success in any situation. Renaissance Preparatory Academy will produce students that are successful during their time with us and teach them the skills necessary to be successful in their future endeavors.”
